Smoker Inn

The Smoker Inn on the A556 towards Northwich is a great restaurant to go to and have a pub lunch or a sit down dinner.

The food is lovely but if you want to go there on a Saturday I would recommend booking a table as it gets very busy with locals and passing trade as its situated on a busy road (A556).

Only problem which would like to highlight is that a few cars have been broken into on the car park so just be careful where you leave your belonging and make sure they are not on show but don’t let this put you off going as they food is delicious and very reasonably priced.

London Festival Comes To A Close

The London festival has final come to an end but many chiefs have won awards for their work.

They had a ceremony last night to recognise their work and amongst the winners were Qou Vadis for the £15 2 course lunch and helene Darroze for the £25 lunch menu. Six other awards were created so that the judges could award them for contributions towards the festival.

Awards like this are very important for a restaurant like ours. I think we won for our understated level of service where people can feel relaxed but still get a very high level of service.

” Said Tristan Welch.

Chlow Couchman of the festival had this to say

We wanted these award to recognise not only restaurants but their staff and chefs as well. We wanted to highlight the significant contribution all these people make to the capital’s restaurant scene.

Hope everyone who attended had a great experience as well

The Mill Pool Restaurant

Another restaurant that is worth a mention is the Mill Pool in Little Budworth in Cheshire which is very close to Oulton Park Racing Circuit.

It’s a little off the beaten track but well worth the visit they have a lovely restaurant over looking a lake and all their food is prepared by hand and fresh on the day.

It’s around £25 per person for a 3 course meal but if you fancy steak there is usually a surcharge of around £5, but it you want good food in a lovely surrounding area then its a great place to go to.

Kings At The Queens

If you are out and about in Chester and want a superb evening meal I can highly recommend the Kings Restaurant in the Queens Hotel right outside the train station.

The meal there was to die for, I have the prawns to start with followed by a fillet steak which I must say was cooked to perfection and I would go as far as saying was the best cooked steak I have had all year.

The restaurant is a finished beautifully and the service from the staff is second to none, and after finishing your meal there a bar to chill out in and enjoy the entertainment .

The chiefs include Michael Caines, Richard Corrigan, Chris Mcgowan and many more all there to perform live every hour and on the hour on the centre stage.

They will all perform and compete to win a competition when they are given a basket of ingredients and have to cook something from stratch and create a 2 course meal for the judges to score.

When you are at the show if you go down to stand K30 in the big hospitality stand you will have the opportunity to speak with Michael Caines and ask any questions to him in a live interview.

Changes In The Way We Tip

Posted by Jamie | General | Sunday 11 October 2009 12:00 pm

There has been a change in the law regarding tips to waiters and waitresses, as the company is not allowed now to have service charges included in their salaries and get away will paying less than the minimum wage.

All waiting on staff will be paid the minimum wage and then the service charges will be applied as a bonus but the company is allowed now to take a portion of it to cover administration costs and the employee will pay more in income tax.

I am not going to go on about all the changes in the law but when you are out having a meal it is well worth finding out how the service charge is paid to the staff and one way to make sure they get their fare share is to pay them in cash rather than adding to the bill so they can get it directly for the service they have provided to you.

Take Your Own Drinks In

Posted by Jamie | General | Friday 9 October 2009 11:41 am

The spice hut near Northwich which is a curry restaurant has a slightly different approach to dining.

That is that they will allow you to take your own drink into the restaurant to enjoy with your meal, the main reason they don’t sell alcohol is that they don’t have a licence but what a great way to encourage people into the business especially in these times where money is tight for some people.

I have not been and tried the food but did have a take away a while ago which would encourage me to go there and I have had some good reviews from friends who have been there.

If you are not sure where to go for meal when out and about why not let your mobile phone tell you.

Its rather crazy to think that your phone will tell you the best places to eat and which are the closest to you but if you download a mobile phone application urbanspoon it can do just that.

The application also includes a near me function which will allow to see what restaurants are near you and the precise time it will take to get there ideal if you are on your lunch and don’t fancy a boring sandwich and would like something a little different for lunch.

You will be able to see other people’s reviews on the restaurant from critics and general jo public making it ideal to make an decision while walking there and also see how local restaurants have been rated.
